NOW ACCEPTING RESERVATIONS FOR SUMMER 2012!
cityWILD offers exciting whitewater rafting trips on the Arkansas River, located 2.5 hours southwest of Denver. We offer half and full day trips down various sections of this beautiful river. A small operation, cityWILD limits Arkansas
trips to 24 individuals, making it an exceptional personal and private adventure even in a larger group! We only run one trip per day unless requested otherwise. This means no rushing through your trip. You get a top notch experience in a beautiful place and the time to take it all in. All revenue goes back to support cityWILD’s programming with urban youth in NE Denver.
The Arkansas Valley is a wonderful place to plan a camping trip with your youth, accented by a rafting adventure with cityWILD. It is also close enough to the Front Range to do as a one-day excursion.
Cost includes wetsuit, paddling jacket, other necessary gear. A deli sandwich bar lunch is included on select trips.
Arkansas River Trips:
Brown’s Canyon: cityWILD’s premier trip. The classic Rocky Mountain river trip with spectacular views of the Continental Divide and Sawatch Range, class III-IV whitewater (depending on water levels), a remote desert canyon, and exciting rapids like Zoom Flume, Pinball, Widow-maker, Seidel’s Suckhole. Two versions are offered;
- Fisherman’s Bridge to Hecla – Distance = 9 miles, 3-4 hours pending river flow and lunch
- Fisherman’s Bridge to Stone Bridge – Distance = 12 miles, 5-6 hours depending on river flow. Includes Seidel’s Suckhole and Twin Falls rapids.
Stone Bridge to Salida: A calmer section of the Arkansas perfect for families and younger groups. This run has a couple of nice rapids as well as the fun and technical boat chute to bypass a hatchery dam. Beautiful river views with a nice float. Distance = 10 miles, 4-5 hours depending on water flow and lunch.
Big Bend to Salida: This section bypasses the bigger rapids after Stone Bridge for a nice easy float into Salida, perfect for duckies (inflatable kayaks) but too much for a canoe! A great float trip. Distance = 7 miles, 2-3 hours depending on water flow and lunch (if requested).
